Whether you are a long time resident of Montgomery County or newly planted here (if that's the case, WELCOME!), it's hard to escape the politics in our fast growing county.

Many of us here at Republican Voters Of Texas PAC ("RVTX PAC") were born and raised in Montgomery County. For generations our roots run deep and over the years, it has been interesting to witness some of the political tactics used during our election cycles, especially the Primaries. In fact, it was the very reason the RVTX PAC was founded in 2018. However, the past couple of years has been less interesting, and deeply more concerning.

The Republican Party in Montgomery County has been fractured by power struggles, false narratives and twisting of the truth. This fracture is hurting our party and hurting voters with stunts like our County Executive Committee ("CEC") moving to censure elected officials from their upcoming re-election ballots simply because they didn't like the way they voted on a particular issue. This is an abuse of power and defies common sense conservatism. If we asked you if you always agree with your spouse, we can safely bet you would say no. We aren't always going to agree with our elected officials either who answer to thousands of constituents.

The Montgomery County Republican Party is NOT a PAC, yet it is currently being run like one. We STRONGLY believe that it is up to the voters to choose their candidates during the Primaries - not the delegates at the State Republican Convention. This slippery slope ideology is now leading to discussions about vetting voters to determine whether they are “Republican enough” in a committee's eyes to vote on the Republican ballot.

RVTX PAC is committed to educating voters and it begins with the important work of the Precinct Chair positions. The critical role of Precinct Chair is often downplayed, but the truth is quite the contrary. It is IMPERATIVE that the County Executive Committee be made up of Precinct Chairs who are focused on promoting conservative values, being a liaison for voters, getting out the VOTE and dedicated to fairly run elections, not a one sided agenda. Our current CEC has been overrun with Precinct chairs who engage in fighting with other members and work to censure candidates who won't bow down to their demands.

So how do you, as a conservative Republican voter, navigate the messy complexity of Montgomery County politics? With these tips, we hope to encourage and empower you to stay informed and rise above the dirty fray of politics.

  1. Don't Rely On Others To Educate You

Unfortunately, Montgomery County is a heated Republican territory and it is important that it remain solidly Republican, BUT the division in the County is primarily between Republicans, which is truly sad. It also makes for a lot of confusion and unnecessary mud-slinging.

The solution? As a group and as individuals, we at RVTX PAC HIGHLY encourage you to do your own homework and research on candidates as well as the political leadership in the county.  How? Google. Social media pages. LinkedIn. What's their day job? How long have they lived in the County? How are they involved in their community? Do they only do political things?

Be cautious of those who claim to be grassroots conservatives yet thrive on division, slander, and deceit. They prey on uneducated voters to manipulate their own narratives and agendas. Ultimately, YOU the voter, should be empowered to use common sense, discernment, and sound judgment to support the conservative candidate you believe will lead with integrity and is best qualified for the job. Don’t just vote, know what you’re voting for!

There are many Republican clubs and Republican Women's Clubs in Montgomery County. Many of the advisory board members of RVTX PAC are active in local Republican clubs. During election cycles, many of these groups hold forums and other opportunities to meet the candidates. Be proactive and take advantage of these opportunities.

Empower yourself. Know the facts. Vote smart!

  1. Understand Voter Guides

Weeks before elections, your mailbox will be inundated with Voters Guides. If you live in a very populated neighborhood, you may also have "block walkers" and even candidates come to your door handing out voter guides. They may look like an easy solution but don't blindly follow a recommendation for candidates that may not even align with your values and the issues you care about. Many of the voter guides will use all the right words like "grassroots" and "real conservative" but these clever marketing tactics are probably recommendations from a very small handful of people. Don't let someone manipulate YOUR vote.

Rule #1 - Do your own homework on candidates. (Your actual ballot can be found by visiting the www.MontgomeryVotes.org website so you can see who is on the ballot, both for primaries and general election.)

    • Consider how many people on the voter guide are making those recommendations.  See if you can find out. It is often only 5-6 people. Or it may be a large national political action committee, not someone local who knows local people.

    • Consider RVTX PAC as a resource to help you in your research.  Our endorsing Advisory Board consists of almost 100 people, many of whom are long-time Montgomery County residents and are actively involved in the community and Republican groups.

Being an educated voter is crucial in protecting Montgomery County and the conservative values we hold dear. By being informed, researching candidates, and understanding key issues, you can be a voter who moves beyond uninformed choices to wisely elect conservative Republicans who will truly represent the people of Montgomery County and not a small minority group with an agenda.

  1. Get Involved

We all lead busy lives, but when you take the time to be involved in your community, you not only strengthen it, you are investing in its future.

It can be tempting to sit out an election cycle, but remember: elections have consequences. The wrong candidate can do lasting damage in just one term like voting to raise your taxes, restrict your freedoms, or make decisions that impact your family and your future. We are so blessed to live in Montgomery County where our Republican women have built strong Republican clubs in their communities and our elected officials host community events to encourage and engage with our community. Getting plugged in is vital to showing up at the polls confident in your choice of candidates.

  1. Get Out And VOTE!

All the research in the world won't matter if you don't get out and vote! Did you know that in the March 4, 2024 primary there were 430,605 registered Republicans in Montgomery County, but only 82,371 (19.13%) voted? A small percentage of voters are deciding your elected officials. Never buy into the lie that your vote doesn't count. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Be informed, be involved, and be an educated voter to help Montgomery County stay RED and thrive!
